Artistic Statement

As an experienced choreographer, I strive to make new and exciting choreography as I create pieces that make my dancers feel strong and confident. My work often begins with finding music with meaning that makes me excited and lights a fire in my soul. Whenever I choreograph I feel I make the most impactful and beautiful choreography when I have that fire setting music. However, the main thing that drives me is how the movement makes my dancers feel. I love watching dancers who have that same fire I do. When I watch dancers like this it reminds me why I do what I do and it pushes me to make the best pieces I possibly can. Watching them work so hard on a piece and seeing their faces after it’s been molded to perfection is everything I could ask for. I feel it really brings a piece to life when you can see how much a dancer loves a piece. This only pushes me to aim for perfection when choreographing. Dance is something that has fueled my bad, good, and sad days, and working with dancers who feel the same way is something I hope every choreographer gets to experience. Dance is a form of expression at its roots and getting to use our bodies to deliver those emotions to an audience is such an exciting feeling. My goal as a choreographer is to bring those emotions to light through dancers that have that same fire within them. I aspire to keep that momentum going through my choreography and through myself as an artist.
